Niger Reef Tea House (licensed restaurant)
About This Spot
Stepping into Niger Reef Tea House, you immediately sense a gentle calm that seems stitched into its very wooden beams and the soft breeze drifting through the open windows. Nestled by the bay in St. Andrews, this spot moves at a leisurely, unhurried rhythm — the kind that invites quiet conversation and lingering moments. The view here is part of the experience: watching the water shimmer in the afternoon light or catching a vivid sunset unfolds almost like a shared secret between the place and its visitors.
Though modest in size, the dining room and outdoor deck both offer a warm, intentional intimacy — a perfect backdrop for gathering with close friends or simply savoring a peaceful meal alone. The atmosphere carries a thoughtful stillness, where the sounds of the town soften into background hums and the focus naturally settles on the textures and flavors at the table.
The menu is a carefully curated reflection of local roots and seasonal bounty, each dish bringing a touch of subtle creativity without fuss. Whether it’s a generously portioned lobster sandwich that balances rich and fresh, a bowl of chowder that comforts with every spoonful, or a crisp salad sandwich that surprises with its bright, unexpected notes, each bite feels like an invitation to slow down and appreciate the care behind it. The choice to keep things simple and focused allows the quality of ingredients and the skill of the kitchen to quietly shine.
There’s a kindness here, both in the way the staff make you feel seen and in the space they craft for diners to settle into the local rhythm. It’s a place where flavors meet relaxed charm and the landscape just beyond the windows reminds you why small-town life can feel so effortlessly full.

This is a wonderful restaurant only made more wonderful by the people that work there. It’s a small menu but the dishes are unique and delicious. I enjoyed the crab cakes (so great) and the Lobster Sandwich. Their chowder was the best I’ve had on our trip. It’s a cute place with a killer view. I would definitely return and highly recommend it.

A nice restaurant with a good view. The ambience was great. Food was a bit expensive but I guess its standard in St. Andrews during peak season. The menu had only limited options. Overall a good experience.

We had dinner on the patio in the warmth of a NB September night! The sunset was glorious. The food, service and atmosphere were top shelf! A great place to hang out with friends for an excellent meal.

Been coming here for years. The lunches are tasty and flavourful. My favorite is the potato tart, a unique dish of the chef. Dinners are lovely and the Sunday prime rib dinner is a must have. The tea house overlooks the bay and the Blockhouse park and has a very nice quiet nature atmosphere even though you are in the middle of town.

Artisan, flavourful, in-season meals with a view. We had the pleasure of eating here on an evening favourable to be outside, and it was beautiful and relaxing. Charming owners and staff. The meal was absolutely perfect, fresh and beautifully presented. And yes! Try crabcakes are a must - try! Deck seating available. Parking. Reservations recommended. Within walking distance of the downtown.

WORLD CLASS. Magic evening at the coolest place in St Andrews. Owner Chef David, the pro skier who cheffed at premier resorts in the Rockies, takes you on a culinary moonshot. Book a reservation and get excited, ask for Dwight, be amazed. Dine outside this delightful 100 year old cabin, have a cushion and blanket on the house, enjoy the waterfront view and celebrate a rare dinner or lunch... because not many are lucky enough to discover this... they don't even advertise. Lucky you.
